How are the animated illustrations and interactive simulations created?
Most of the animated illustrations and all of the interactive simulations on this site were created using the wonderful GeoGebra software. GeoGebra is a free program that makes it very easy to create animations and simulations for anyone with a good understanding of math or physics.
physics simulation skydiver
How many forces are there in a skydiver?
We have only two forces, drag and gravity and we will use our previously stated skydiver of 80 kg: Now we just continue this process of using acceleration and velocity values from the previous interval to calculate new velocity, drag force, and acceleration for next interval.

What is the best open source flight simulator?
FlightGear Flight Simulator: free open-source multiplatform flight sim Founded in 1997, FlightGear is developed by a worldwide group of volunteers, brought together by a shared ambition to create the most realistic flight simulator possible that is free to use, modify and distribute.

What can simphy do for You?
With SimPHY, teachers can create their own simulations with our easy to use drag-drop tools to make physics lectures more intuitive and engaging. Ready to run interactive physics simulations, from our IIT JEE curriculum based exhaustive library, for live teaching with SimPHY.
What is the main purpose of simulation software?
Simulation software is used by engineers, scientists, designers, and mathematicians to imitate a real-world product or process using a set of formulas and models. It allows users to observe an operation through a simulation program without actually performing or developing it.
physics simulation collisions
How do simulations determine the result of a collision?
The simulations discussed here use simplified rules to determine the result of a collision. A more exact simulation would model the deformation of the colliding bodies on a very small time scale. But that would require much more complex software and models, and would not run interactively in real-time.
How does collision handling work in myphysicslab simulations?
The default collision handling method used in the myphysicslab simulations is called "serial grouped lastpass". It is a serial collision handling method, except that when joints are involved it does a simultaneous collision calculation involving all bodies connected by joints that are involved on either side of the collision.
What is a posteriori collision simulation?
At each simulation step, a list of all intersecting bodies is created, and the positions and trajectories of these objects are "fixed" to account for the collision. This method is called a posteriori because it typically misses the actual instant of collision, and only catches the collision after it has actually happened.
How do you solve collision problems in physics?
Apply the law of conservation of momentum to solve collision problems. Explain why energy is not conserved and varies in some collisions. Determine the change in mechanical energy in collisions of varying elasticity. Define elasticity.

What is a physics simulation?
A physics simulation starts with a mathematical model whose variables define the state of the system at a given time. Each variable represents the position or velocity of some part of the system. The heart of a physics simulation is the set of differential equations that describe how the variables evolve over time.
