(China) The chinese have announced that they have built the fastest train in the world, a new magnetic levitation train that the country developed themselfs. The train is supposed to drive at its peak at more than 600 kilometers per hour. The new high-tech magnetic levitation train from China is still yet to be named. However, before the planned use takes place in five to ten years, further tests have to be carried out to ensure its safety. This is reported by the state news agency Xinhu. Traveling with this train would almost be as fast as you would be on a plane.
The new train could almost keep up with an airplane at the specified speed. A flight from Beijing to Shanghai takes just under 2 hours. The distance is over 1000 kilometers. With this new train it would be around 2.5 hours. In addition to the final tests of the new high-speed magnetic levitation train, there is also a need for new routes that can be used. So far there is only the 30 kilometers route between Shanghai Exhibition Center and the Pudong Airport. The current highspeed train from China (Shanghai Maglev Train) covers the distance in about 7.5 minutes.
In the near future China’s major cities and provinces such as Shanghai and Chengdu are also expected to have these new Transrapid connections. However, it will all still take some time though. The unnamed highspeed train’s earliest estimates for going into operation is the year 2026.
